Notes from the Superintendent
The time has come to open a new
school year! We welcome back students
and staff to the Chadwick-Milledgeville
CUSD #399. I hope that this past summer
was safe and enjoyable. The chance to
relax, enjoy some great weather and
hopefully get some time to simply enjoy
our great northwest Illinois lifestyle
is something I look forward to each
year.
While the summer usually is a bit
more relaxed at a school office, this
past summer has been busy as we have
begun the process of putting a new
administrative team in place. At its’
June meeting, the board of education
named Mr. Tim Schurman as Assistant
Superintendent/Principal at Chadwick and
Mrs. Paula Rademacher as High
School/Elementary Principal at
Milledgeville. Mr. Schurman will take
on the daily duties of the
superintendent under my supervision and
will complete his training to become
superintendent. I will continue as
interim superintendent, but will work a
part-time schedule.
Mrs. Rademacher has served the
district as its guidance counselor and
is well suited to step into her new
role. She is familiar with our students
and staff and enters the principalship
with the breadth of experience to do a
great job. I hope that you will join me
in welcoming both Mr. Schurman and Mrs.
Rademacher to their new roles. They
will face many challenges as education
continues to change and they will need
your support.
During this past summer, our
custodial staff has done a great job of
preparing our buildings for the coming
year. Floors have been stripped, new
carpet laid, everything cleaned and
shined, and the high school parking lot
has been resurfaced after many years.
Many staff members have gone back to
graduate school to better prepare them
to serve the children of the district
and others have attended formal training
in new teaching methods. My thanks to
all the staff members who give up a
portion of their summer to go back for
training and who continue to improve
themselves professionally.
Last year our test scores showed that
the hard work of both students and staff
paid off in fine test scores and growth
for our students. We are looking
forward to a great year that will
continue that trend and bring quality
education to the children we serve.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ed Olds, Interim Superintendent
